Laughter Yoga Classes ~ Denver, Colorado

Want to get your blood flowing? Try Laughter Yoga (also known as Hasaya Yoga). Have trouble laughing? No worries. The laughter is self-triggered and can have profound effects.

Laughter Yoga is a relatively new type of yoga, with its origins traced to India in 1995, when it was promoted by Indian guru Jiten Kohi and made popular by Indian physician Madan Kataria.

Surprisingly, Laughter Yoga has nothing to do with humor or comedy. Instead, laughter is simulated in a group, until it becomes real and contagious. The combination of laughing and yoga bring more oxygen to the body and brain. Laughter Yoga operates on the principle that the benefits of laughter are the same, whether the laughter is real or fake.

Laughter Yoga sessions are led by a Laughter leader or teacher who instructs you to start and stop various laughter exercises. During most Laughter Yoga classes, you’ll keep moving, make eye contact with others in the class, and share in playfulness.

Laughter groups, (typically made up of older men who gather in parks in the morning), have been around for centuries, but Kataria’s Laughter Yoga Club spread worldwide. Today, there are an estimated 6,000 Laughter Parties in sixty countries.

Laughter Yoga can lead to not only better health, but also greater happiness and a sense of well-being.
